Organizer 1: Technical Community, Western European and Others Group (WEOG)
Organizer 2: Civil Society, Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC)
Organizer 3: Technical Community, Asia-Pacific Group
Speaker 1: Alexander Fiona, Civil Society, Western European and Others Group (WEOG)
Speaker 2: Valeria Betancourt, Civil Society, Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC)
Speaker 3: Christine Arida, Government, African Group
    Format
    Roundtable
    Duration (minutes): 60
Format description: The roundtable layout and duration are best suited for a focused dialogue among stakeholders to develop new approaches to longstanding challenges like "how to better develop outputs". We anticipate that there will be significant interest in this topic and so we anticipate significant participation by IGF attendees, and so if a longer session format is available, that would be preferable. 60 mins would be a fallback.
    Policy Question(s)
A - What new ways can be devised to generate and share outcomes from the IGF’s work - including from NRIs? B - What should be done with such outcomes - what forums or processes should be prioritised for sharing them, and how should they be presented so they are accessible? C - What resources or changes to the IGF’s current practices would be required to give effect to this change?
What will participants gain from attending this session? Participants will gain an understanding of the existing IGF methods to formulate outcomes, and begin to develop new ways to do so. They will also gain a deeper understanding of the perspectives of other stakeholders about the this challenge and possible new approaches. They will experience the opportunity to shape and refine new approaches through which the IGF and NRIs could craft outcomes. ● Ideas that could be applied by the NRIs and in the IGF’s intersessional work.
    SDGs
    Description:

To strengthen the IGF's policy impact, it needs to strengthen its ability to develop and share outcomes. This workshop will discuss and develop methods to suggest to the MAG and to the NRIs to better develop outcomes and communicate them to relevant policy processes, without compromising the IGF's character. The focus will be on ideas for new session types and new methods to test principles or policy recommendations at IGF and NRI events. In the context of WSIS+20 it is incumbent on all IGF stakeholders to work together to strengthen the IGF's impact. The outcomes of the workshop will be shared so they are available for all stakeholders to use.
    Expected Outcomes
Broad community understanding of current and possible new approaches to developing and sharing outcomes by the IGF system. From this, a report will be prepared that sets out specific proposals for future session types and other actions to deliver improvements.
Hybrid Format: We will prepare a paper seeding ideas and discussion and share it in advance of the workshop. During the event, we will alternate between interventions from the room and online. We also plan to use the menti.com tool to collect feedback and test community support for suggestions. This approach brings together on-site and online participants in an equal way.
